Natsumi Iino 飯野夏実

Natsumi lino born in 1983 in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, she is the eldest of three sisters. She studied ceramics at an art university in Tokyo and at a vocational school in Kyoto that trains traditional craftspeople. In 2010, she established Studio Karakusa, which is now celebrating its 15th anniversary.

She mainly exhibit my works at galleries and department stores in Tokyo and Kyoto. This will be her first time exhibiting in North America.

In addition to ceramics, she enjoy working in various other art forms. She have been creating pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) since she fell in love with the craft in high school, and been doing it for 25 years. Her work has been featured in magazines and on TV several times, and she currently teach classes twice a month. During a trip to Italy in my early 30s, she was deeply inspired by the mosaics in old churches, which led her to start creating mosaic pieces using marble and glass. she also enjoy bead weaving and once held a solo exhibition featuring only necklaces.
