Makiko Okizawa 冲澤真纪子

Makiko Okizawa began studying ceramics in 1997 at the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Technical School and later worked at a pottery company in Seto, building a strong foundation in craftsmanship. In 2004, she started creating under the name "MACARON" in Takayama, Gifu, and has been working independently since. She moved to Hida in 2012, where she built her own kiln and continues to explore the poetic beauty of clay and fire.

Her works are known for their warm textures and airy forms, often decorated with soft floral motifs that bring a gentle, spring-like feeling to daily life. Makiko cherishes the charm of natural materials and designs each piece with a sense of playfulness and warmth.

"To have it is not essential--but it brings happiness." This is the quiet message woven into every MACARON creation.
