Naoko Hamasaka 浜坂尚子
Based in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Naoko Hamasaka fuses slip-casting and sgraffito carving to produce vividly textured ceramics.
After graduating Musashino Art University in 2000 and apprenticing under Chikako
Yoshikawa, she founded her own studio in 2004.
Hamasaka' s process layers colored slip within plaster molds, then carves bold patterns that reveal dynamic contrasts of hue and relief. The result: bowls, cups and animal sculptures that pulse with energy and invite tactile exploration.
In "little walk on the table," her carved bowls map a playful topography-each ridge and groove acting as a path to trace-while her animal figurines stand as animated sentinels.
Together, they transform the tabletop into a spirited landscape, compelling guests to wander, discover and delight in the vibrant interplay of form and color.
