Akemi Nakamura is a Japanese ceramic artist from Sapporo. She graduated from the Department of Crafts and Design at the Junior College of Art and Design, Musashino Art University, before studying and producing ceramics in Kasama, Ibaraki. She began working as a potter in Kasama in 1994 and has been based in Sapporo since 2010. Her work is guided by the idea of making "everyday life a little more joyful." She creates practical pieces such as bowls, cups, plates, and Japanese teapots, often adorned with charming motifs and three-dimensional details featuring birds, sheep, pandas, butterflies, flowers, and ladybugs. Warm, playful, and lighthearted, her ceramics are designed to bring delight to the everyday dining table.
