Noritomo Suzuki 鈴木工友

Working in the historic Shigaraki region, Noritomo Suzuki engages with tradition through movement. His surfaces are animated by rhythmic brushwork, often in cobalt blue, where gesture becomes the primary language. The lines vary in pressure and density, responding to the vessel's curvature and creating a sense of visual cadence.

Suzuki balances this dynamism with structural discipline. His bowls and plates are carefully proportioned; their stance and rim profiles remain steady and functional. The expressive brushwork does not disrupt utility but is integrated into it.

Within this exhibition, Suzuki's work introduces kinetic energy. If tea is often associated with stillness, his vessels remind us that ritual also contains motion —measure, pour, lift, return. Time is present not only in contemplation but in gesture.
