Akiko Uotani 魚谷 あきこ

The artist produce pottery in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture. Tokoname is known for its pottery production and windy coastal environment.Primarily use porcelain clay to create pottery pieces that aim to become cherished items in daily life, like your favourite pajamas that provide comfort and familiarity.

We visited Akiko Uotani last year and she kindly invited us to her home for lunch with her family. She also took us on a tour of her studio, showcasing her works from every period of her creative journey. It must be said that Akiko Uotani herself, much like her artwork, very gentle and kind. During the conversations with her feel effortless and pressure-free. Among the many talented artists we've met, Akiko Uotani stands out for her unique talent and understanding of ceramics.
